Debra Charney

As an award winning journalist and photographer, Debra's work has appeared in numerous national and international publications. Her love for animals and nature is evident through her creative writing and photography.

Debra's photographs have been juried into art shows, and graced the cover of the Sprint United telephone book. One of her images is scheduled to appear on a rock music album.

As a former newspaper reporter for the Gettysburg Times, she has interviewed country singers Chris Cagle, Tammy Cochran, and actor Eddie Albert as well as other prominent figures.

Debra's deftly-handled reporting on science and technology earned her an Associated Press award and two traveling fellowships: Council for the Advancement of Science Writing, Hershey Medical Center; and Foundation for American Communications, California Institute of Technology. 

Debra graduated from Towson University with a B.A. in Biological Writing in 1995. Her core subjects focused on Wildlife Biology. Shortly after, she began her career as a freelance writer. She then decided to further her education, graduating from The Institute of Children's Literature in 1998.

Debra is currently a graduate student at Full Sail University.  She plans on obtaining her Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, pursuing a career in the arts and entertainment industry.

At present, she works as a professional photographer for Lifetouch Studios, photographing church families for their directories.

Aside from writing and photography, her other passion is showing Bengal cats.
